Wedding Ceremony Planning Steps

How to Get Started with Planning your Wedding Ceremony

Wedding Ceremony Planning To-Do List

Chicago Wedding Ceremony
Wedding Ceremony Planning Guide

Congratulations on your engagement!

I have personally been engaged twice. Unfortunately, my first marriage ended. It started when I was in my early twenties. I got married to my teenage love, we had a daughter, and eventually grew apart. I remember wanting a "Dream Wedding Ceremony" and I also remember asking myself where do I start with planning this Ceremony? I decided that I wanted to get married in Puerto Rico to have my grandmother there as she was unable to travel at the time. I started to research the steps and requirements for having my Ceremony in Puerto Rico.

In this post I will help you get started on planning your wedding ceremony in Illinois. As I mentioned before I have been engaged twice and have gone through this process twice. In my most recent marriage I had my wedding ceremony in Cook County, IL. It was a beautiful, simple, and intimate ceremony with the love of life, myself, and our Wedding Officiant. If you are looking for an experienced professional who has gone through the process of preparing for your wedding ceremony then I am your woman!

I can help get you started with the steps that you should take in order to plan your ceremony.

Step #1 - Determine Your Budget for Your Wedding Ceremony

Have you ever wanted something that you couldn't afford and ended up "cheaping out" and going for the "less expensive" option? Well this could be a good thing or a bad thing. Is your wedding ceremony something that you want to "cheap out" on? I would say most people will say no. I have always believed in you get what you pay for. Sure, you could hire a family member with zero experience in officiating weddings and it may or may not go well. The first step in planning your ceremony should be to determine your budget and keep in mind that you will certainly get what you pay for when deciding on who will officiate your wedding.

Step #2 - Do Your Research about the Wedding Ceremony Fees

What costs are associated with having a marriage ceremony? This all depends on your vision. Are you looking for a big ceremony or a small ceremony? Is this going to be done at the wedding venue, the court house, or another location? Will your Wedding Officiant have to travel? How much does a marriage license cost in your area?

Step #3 - Apply for Your Marriage License for Your Wedding Ceremony

You have now talked things over with your fiancé and determined that you are going to hire a Wedding Officiant. The first thing that comes to mind when I hear couples call me to ask what my pricing is for officiating a wedding ceremony is do you have your marriage license? This is the first thing that comes to mind because as a Wedding Officiant I cannot make the marriage legal without the marriage license. Here in Illinois, you must get the marriage license in the County where you are having your marriage ceremony performed. Different counties charge different prices, so this is something to keep in mind when budgeting for this part of your wedding. In this phase of planning your ceremony you will apply for your marriage license.

Step 4 - Hire Your Wedding Officiant for Your Wedding Ceremony

Don't leave hiring your Wedding Officiant for last. This is one of the most important parts of your day and not to mention where a lot of your photos/videos will be taken. Knowing just a little bit about planning your marriage ceremony can go a long way in helping plan your magical/dream wedding ceremony!
